GIVING BACK TO THE FUTURE OF OUR PUERTO RICO
It was a 2017 resolution to find ways to give back to the community. Support the kids that don't have the same privileges and opportunities I did growing up. Not sure for how to go about it; the Universe brought it to me.
One morning I received an email from the Carlos F. Daniels vocational school in Carolina, Puerto Rico. The rest is history. I have committed myself to help this school and the results are beyond rewarding.
There are so many ways you can give back to your local community. Since I started working with the school I have given lectures to the students on how to be ready to face the real world, ways to not let anyone tell you "it cant be done", professionalism and the skills you need for interviews and prepare for your first day at work... Any information I can share on what requires how to succeed after high school.
Once you start your presentation you realize how hungry they are for direction, support, for some one to tell them "yes it is possible..." It happened to me... It is our duty to find ways to relate to their challenges and make them feel you understand them and support them.
I encourage everyone to find a way to give back. I promise you, once you start and create relations with the students and the teachers you will feel empowered and happy you are giving back to the youth of our country.
